Raspberry Rye

What You Need

  • 2 oz Rye Whiskey
  • 3/4 oz Raspberry Syrup
  • 1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1/4 oz Elderflower Liqueur

1. Combine rye, fresh lemon juice, and raspberry syrup, and elderflower liqueur into a cocktail shaker. Fill the shaker with ice, and shake for 10 seconds until chilled. Strain the drink into a rocks glass over ice or king cube. Garnish with a basil leaf and fresh raspberry.

How To Make Raspberry Syrup:

In a medium saucepan, combine 1/2 cup of sugar, and 1/2 cup of water. Bring to a light boil and gently stir to dissolve sugar, then put heat to low. Drop in a cup of fresh raspberries and lightly simmer until juice starts extracting, gently pressing on the berries. Remove the saucepan from the heat and let cool for about 10 minutes. Once cooled, strain the syrup through a fine-mesh sieve and discard the solids. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator, up to 1 week.
